Black art deco style marble table light with shell and coral mosaic [41795]
A magnificent Italian table lamp with an art deco vibe, partnered with a simple black shade of softly-pleated chiffon, edged here with red to complement the base. All metal parts are cast initially in bronze, then plated with silver-white palladium metal.
Palladium was only discovered in 1803, and being resistant to tarnishing, is very useful as an alternative to silver for beautiful jewellery, household objects, and ornaments, such as table lighting. It is 30 times more rare than gold, and belongs to the platinum group of metals.The base features a beautiful mosaic of black tab shell, red coral, jasper and marble, with a black marble foot.
