This beautiful hanging light is a lovely modern-day interpretation of a vintage 60s and 70s Venetian style chandelier design, showcasing the skill and dexterity of the glass-maker.

Discs of Murano cristallo piastra glass are suspended from a chrome-plated frame.“Piastra” translates into English as “plate”which evokes an image of a flat piece of glass, but all the elements which go into its construction are individually made by pouring molten glass onto a flat surface, and treating it with different substances to create texture and colour, before the cooling glass is cut and shaped with iron tools. The technique dates back to the 13the century, but the vibe is definitely modernist mid-century.
